Durham Craft and Gift Show 2014

I thoroughly enjoyed my weekend as a local vendor in the annual Durham Craft and Gift Show 2014.
A big thank you to everyone who helped make the show a success and to all my fans who dropped in to say 'hello' !

My most popular item at the show this year was this Audrey Hepburn themed pillow.

This makes a great gift idea and can be made using any colour of fabric, if you are not a fan of the teal. If you are interested in ordering one please send me an E-mail at quilters.workshop@gmail.com
(approximate size 18" x 18")

Some Recent Custom Orders

I've recently been working on a few different custom orders, (on top of teaching lessons and preparing for upcoming craft shows) so I thought I would share them with you :)

The first item is a custom order for a quilt made using baby clothing, receiving blankets, hats, and socks. I have the majority of the quilt top assembled. I think this quilt is interesting, due to the textures of the various fabrics, pockets, hats (they are appliqued on but you can still lift the bottom of the hat to open it, and feel the inside), appliqued socks, etc.

Here are a couple of photos as of right now:

This is a close-up area showing a sock, a denim pocket and a shirt that I kept the collar and
buttons on.

If you are interested in making a quilt using T-shirts or baby clothing, please note that you need to back all of your cut materials with a light weight fusible interfacing. This will make sewing the pieces together so much easier, as the interfacing will prevent the materials from stretching.

In addition to working on this quilt order, I've also been working on this order for a batman stocking!

Stay tuned for more photos of what I'm making lately!

Halloween Pillowcases!

Hi Everyone!

I Just wanted to share what my students are working on in class right now! My younger students are making them for themselves and plenty of my "big-kid" students are making them for children and grandchildren of all ages! What a fun and quick project :)

Taking a pillowcase trick or treating is definitely the best way to ensure you can haul the maximum amount of candy on Halloween night! And having a pillowcase you made yourself out of fun Halloween prints makes it even better!

Here's one of my little gals all set and ready to go!

For anyone who's been experiencing really gloomy and rainy weather, here's some pretty sunflowers to brighten your day! I absolutely love them and the colour is so vibrant you can't help but feel a little better when you're looking at them. I also think this would be interesting for some quilty-inspiration!
Let those little gears in your mind start turning ;)

Happy Creating!

A Sneak-Peek...

Hi Everyone,

Here's a couple of photos of some fun things I've been working on for my upcoming craft shows!

Who doesn't love little Olaf from Disney's "Frozen"? If you have not watched the movie yet, I highly recommend it. It is by far the greatest "Disney Princess" movie I have ever seen. For my students in my classes, stay tuned, we may just have a work shop coming up so you can each have your own little Olaf stocking...

This pillow is for all the fans of John Green's, "The Fault in Our Stars" novel/movie.

Stay tuned for more sneak-peeks of what I'm working on for the show!
Don't forget to come and check out the Durham Craft and Gift Show on October 24-26! :)

For all of you lovely crafters who are not committed to being a vendor at the craft show, remember to visit the "Creativ Needlework Festival" in Toronto! It is being held the same weekend, October 24-26.
